Letter from the Superintendent

It is a wonderful honor to have been selected as the next superintendent of the Show Low Unified School District.  I want to thank each of the school board members for their vision and trust in me to lead this fantastic school district.  I have always been impressed with the legacy of excellence of Show Low Schools.

For those who may not be familiar with my background and how I came to be your superintendent, please allow me a moment to introduce myself.

I have spent over 20 years in public education, with a variety of roles including teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, human resource director, and superintendent. After starting my career in Fort Worth, Texas as a teacher and coach, my family and I transitioned back to Arizona where I served as a junior high principal, high school principal, human resource director, and district superintendent.  I spent over a decade in Arizona working in the Pima and Queen Creek Unified School Districts.

I've earned a Master's degree from UT-Arlington and my Doctorate from Arizona State University.

My family and I returned to Texas where I served as principal of Robert E. Lee High School in Goose Creek CISD.  My team and I led the campus to consecutive Apple Distinguished Designations, oversaw the STEM Academy reaching “National Model Status'', and was named Region 4 Secondary Principal of the Year.

After my time at Lee High School I was fortunate enough to coach building leaders through Trinity University.  For two years I worked at the Trinity School Design Network coaching and mentoring building principals on innovative school designs and leadership best practices.  I also worked as adjunct faculty at Trinity co-teaching professionals who were aspiring administrators.

Before returning to Arizona I was once again serving as high school principal of Floresville High School outside San Antonio, TX.

My family and I are thrilled to be in Show Low.  I have always had such high regard for Show Low Schools.  I anticipate the 2024-2025 school year will be a fantastic year. I have already been impressed with the hard working staff members that I have already met and their commitment to the students of this community.  I am excited to add my efforts in ensuring Show Low Schools are performing at their very best.

Respectfully,

Joseph C. Farnsworth, Ed.D.

Superintendent
